Homebuilders show signs of recovery
For an industry hit especially hard by the recession, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
Beazer Homes USA Inc., based in Atlanta, GA, posted a $48 million profit in its first quarter. Orders for new homes increased almost 37 percent from a year ago, mostly from first-time homebuyers capitalizing on low mortgage rates and federal tax credits. While this does not indicate a full recovery, it is a good indicator for an industry struggling to get back on its feet.
