Montana Building Codes Council to File 2009 IECC Adoption with State
On June 25, the Montana Building Code Council voted to adopt the 2009 IECC with amendments. The Montana Department of Labor and Industry expects to officially file this ruling with the Montana Secretary of State on Monday, October 5. A public hearing on the new energy code, during which comments may be submitted, is expected on or around November 9. As for an effective date for the new regulations, the Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM) requires the process to be completed within six months of the filing date with the Secr etary of State (or start all over), though this process has historically not taken the full six months.
The Council will hold a public hearing on Thursday, October 8 at 10:00am (Mountain Time) in Helena on the prospective adoption of a number of 2009 I-Codes that do not include the 2009 IECC.
