Tuesday, May 25, 2010: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Alliance to Save Energy
1850 M St. NW, Suite 600

On Tuesday, May 25th, the Alliance will host “EE Noon: Commercial & Industrial Insulation – The Forgotten Technology.” This program will feature professional perspectives on the technical merits of mechanical insulation, reasons why it has been under-appreciated, code and incentive structures to encourage installation of insulation, and the macro effects of proper insulation on U.S. energy and economic goals.

EE Noon is a regular series of brown-bag lunch seminars in which industry leaders share their expertise about energy efficiency. The seminars—supported by phone teleconferencing to allow you to participate from your desk—feature short presentations followed by a question and answer session. To join us, please RSVP to Heather Rubacky, hrubacky@ase.org.

Commercial & Industrial Insulation - The Forgotten Technology

Energy efficiency is often conveyed through images of compact fluorescent light bulbs or sleek, new technologies. However, efficiency opportunities are not always complex or sophisticated.

Simply put, insulation—both for mechanical equipment and buildings—is among the most effective, proven, common sense approaches to minimizing thermal energy loss.

In fact, a recent study conducted by the National Insulation Association in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory concluded that insulation opportunities in the commercial and industrial sectors represent up to $4.8 billion in energy savings.
